comix64i finally got K3B to burn my mixdisc. i had to plug in my titanic external disc drive, which has only one extra capability v. the internal SuperDrive drive that Solus Serifa has, which is that it can handle DVD-RW, if i recall correctly. but anyway, the only way for me to defuse the unexplained errors was to plug in the external drive and select RAW for my method of burning (v. DAO (Disc at Once) or TAO (Track at Once)), which is not an option that appears when burning with the SuperDrive MASHITA DVD-R drive. this sucks! i cant burn CDs with my internal drive, despite having done it before, and also having burnt more complex types of discs (DVD-R). why is this? i have no clue! all i know is that it worked with my external drive, and that the error that the internal drive gave was a generic ERROR: Toc-file "/tmp/k3b_audio_2_.toc" is not suitable for this drive. what exactly does a suitable TOC entail? i have no clue. upon inspection TOC files just look like JSON-esque info-tables for track names, artists and lengths, so i can't really see any way to fix the error... hopefully it's just that i corrupted the TOC file, or K3B is being negligent w/r/t what my drive is suitable for, or something that isn't "your disc drive is fucked". i plan to insert a brush-equipped CD, or otherwise attempt to clean up the lens, even though the laser and the lens probably aren't in the same area.
anyway, i bought CDs of Santos Inocentes' Megaton and Machine Girl's WLFGRL+ (w/ bonus tracks). i also wanted to buy Soda Stereo's Dynamo, but that disc's too expensive to use my gift card on 'cuz Soda Stereo is famous and popular and mainstream (at least in south America). oh well. i already have all 3 albums as MP3s in my library anyway, i just want the CDs for higher quality. i don't even know if they'll be higher quality. my copy of Megaton is pretty low quality, since it's a CD rip from my dad's friend which was ripped in like 2002, but my WLFGRL copy is a FLAC to MP3 conversion so that CD is more so for the bonus tracks than for sound quality.
