i think if cars still had disc players, everyone would be more peaceful. i dont understand why they got rid of all the ports and trays and slots in cars. modern ones just have USB-C and maybe a spot to rest your phone that has Mag-Safe-powered wireless charging capabilities. which, like, all the modern ports are cool, but i want the old ones too! im always for ports! i want a computer with ethernet and USB-A and USB-B (however unused it may be) and USB-C and USB-D and USB-E and USB-F and an SD card slot and an aux (can you believe cars, the pinnacle of sound, no longer carry aux ports???) and a spin-screw slot for those cylindrical wi-fi adapters and an infrared receptor and one of those thin wide ports on old laptops that were always used with adapters and never one-to-one connections and a BLU-RAY-RW (or whichever disc is highest and most usable between the whole CD -> DVD -> BLU-RAY thing and the whole DISC -> DISC-R -> DISC-RW -> DISC-RAM thing (which CD-RAM and DVD-RAM were very rare and BLU-RAY-RAM never existed)) drive and a floppy drive and one of those weird thick wide ports on really early '00s laptops that had the floppy drive pokey-thing on the side of them that always came in sets of two vertical parallel ones, and those shitty kensington lock ports that'd just get your chassis' shell broken and then stolen anyway, and PC/2 circular colored (usually purple/keyboard and green/mouse) inputs and FireWire (i always say it with like a '90s rock sort of voice: "Fiyah Wiyaaaaahhhh!") and HDMI and optical audio (the square plug with the flap) and displayport and mini-displayport and A/V-out and DVI (usually Macintosh video-out) and VGA and that printer port that was identical to VGA but much wider/purple and line-in which was always really loud for no discernable reason. i need all of the ports i can get! using a million adapters to get to what socket you need/want is its own art, but i prefer just having the port on the machine already. i dunno why manufacturers need to get rid of all the ports, aside from lack of room, but, like, that new MacBook has literally like two ports and that's it, one USB-C and one a slightly wider USB-C 2.0 or whatever. c'mon! you can do better than that! at least give me an aux port! aux ports are the least a device can do in terms of ports. if you dont have an aux port on your machine (no matter what machine it may be, computer or otherwise) i dont want to associate with it.
